Show 18

WDW Today And Mental Illness Happy Hour

We're starting to near the end of 'season 1' and figured it was a good time for a recap (see last show for Imaginary Family Tree recap)

Previously On:
so this show, after our brace of podcasts, we run down most of the films and tv we've covered since show 1.  Now, my 'show notes elf' did send me a list but I figure you can just listen and find out what made it.  Also, there is a show notes archive for you to peruse at your leisure.
Spoiler rant (Springs even interrupts Mr.Geek's thought! sorry for being so interrupting.) Question posed - what is one sentence that could spoil the most films.
I've been catching up on Good Job Braiin again so we chat about Frances Glessner Lee and how she entered the world of forensic crime investigation.  Also the movie about her called Of Dolls and Murder
We move onto a quick explanation of Fan Edits (and discuss some of the ones I've recently downloaded).
Springs introduces us to the whole range of Thumb films !
Chit chat about Peter Lorre (again) which leads to The Groovy Ghoulies.
Springs has a spooky experience. Was it paranormal...or was it the drugs?!
She also suggests we watch Adventure Time!  Then, weirdest of all, she tells us about random pianos (yes, PIANOS!!) showing up around Salt Spring Island

Show 17

I Seem Fun And Quackcast

Starts with "spring's robot" and then we chat about My new job...earning more than I've ever earned before!  Also, my upcoming holiday to Disney World is in danger of turning me into a Disney bore.  We discuss two podcasts that have ended - Bell's in the Batfry and Making it With Ricci Lynhome and this leads us to the 'shocking' new Garfunkle and Oates song - The Loophole.

* A plane flies by and I close the window, but we both lost our train of thought....

While I wasn't working, I spent some time trying to get my media into some semblance of order...I have 443 distinct tv shows and 2678 films.  I haven't got round to the Music yet...Last time I looked it was about 80,000 tracks.

* Spring's get's distracted by the view out Mr. Geek's window. It's still light out...

Quote from Springs "I am not a Scooby-Doo villain!"

Plans for the remaining shows of Season 1 are discussed and we have a full recap of The Imaginary Family Tree. Next show we'll be having our movie recap
During some general movie discussion where I've watched a lot of movies recently but none worth a real review, I come to realise I'm a tofu reviewer (I take on the opionions of whatever I've read).  I don't seems to be passionate about many of the films I watch...they're all just 'meh'.  We get onto 3D movies and Springs feels that I 'patiently (and sarcastically) explains how 3D movies work'.

Springs dreams of winning the lottery...... (Magical Thinking Institute)

The Snug Podcasting Network needs a third podcast. Anyone interested, Springs is a willing guest or co-host. Mr.Geek has 2 podcasts, why can't Springs.

* Springs is still looking for the "spalweblaha" button on her keyboard.

Previously On:
Spring's did not break-up with Improv for Humans. It was saved by the guest appearances ofAmy Poehler and Maria Bamford.

Inside The Magic And The Bugle

Springs is excited! She can hardly contain herself as we find out that Dan Harmon is coming back to Community... She's even drinking from her 'Troy and Abed In the Morning' mug!

After our brace of podcasts for this show we have a chat about some TV and Movies (see list and links below) and I wonder if it's my age or if films today have got really fast. I originally noticed it with the first Tranformers movie but just assumed that was Michael Bay...however, Man Of Steel has given me the same feeling so maybe it's just the age of my eyes.

Also, is it just me, or would Christopher Reeve's Superman had more thought about innocent bystanders and moved the fight to some less populated area?

*WEIRDNESS THAT SPRUNG FROM SPRINGS THIS WEEK
Springs rambles about tv being better than movies and introduces us to her new holistic venture, The Magical thinking institute

Previously On:

The New Mic has arrived
Springs only broke up with 2 podcasts, Big Pop Fun and My Brother, My Brother & Me,
but added several new ones.

Stop Podcasting Yourself

Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated
Mystery Incorporated (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
Wow...Springs' sound is bad on this one...her nice microphone has packed in and she's just on her built-in laptop mic...oh myyyy!

She starts us of by introducing us to "Stop Podcasting Yourself" (straight after dropping the bombshell that she's breaking up with a few podcasts in her list).

We also find out that it's the show that the Springs family go to bed with.  My podcast this show is Good Job Brain...a podcast so good they even have their own press kit. I also share some random facts from the show that have stuck in my head.

After some general TV chat, I enthusiastically recommend Scooby Doo : Mystery Incorporated (stop reading this and go watch it now)  and Springs suggests I start watching Orphan Black
We also: Shout out to Listener James Wood, discuss Roller Derby and end with some MRI and other fun heath chit chat.

Show 14

Jacksfilms

I'd just like to start by apologising...I don't have a podcast for you this show...The Retroist has been sooooo good that I've not been able to drag myself away from it...But I promise to have a new podcast for you for next show.

To make matters worse, Springs doesn't have a proper podcast for you this week either but she does introduce us to the brilliant Jacksfilms, a comedy Youtube channel that features 'Your Grammer Sucks!'

Springs suggests that we start covering Disney movies on the run up to my holiday in December but I have to admit that I don't watch a lot of them...I do however share some facts about films and theme park rides and even though I'm totally wrong about when Uncle Walt died I now know its December 15th 1966.

This Shows Springs Pet Peeve is People in tv shows using past tense too soon'.
It should also be noted that she saves worms and wants to be known as 'Goddess Among Worms'.

Show 13

TED Talks and The Retroist

Gilbert sharing some interesting view on creat...

Show 13 means we talk about the number 13, and the absurd phobia Triskaidekaphobia,(yes, I know, I mispronounce it horribly) which leads to elevators,  parallel universes and John Malkovich.

We move onto our podcasts for this show and start with the video podcast TED Talks
As promised a list of TED talks Springs has enjoyed. This is in no way a complete list.
Ken Robinson says schools kill creativity
Jill Bolte Taylor's stroke of insight
Elizabeth Gilbert: Your elusive creative genius
Sarah Kay: If I should have a daughter ...
Theo Jansen: My creations, a new form of life
VS Ramachandran: 3 clues to understanding your brain
Amanda Palmer: The art of asking

Our second podcast is The Retroist, which is one of my new subscriptions after last weekends podcast thinning.  It's 70's/80's all the way and I relive some of my youth via a bloke from New Jersey.  Anyone who devotes an entire episode to the Colecovision video game system has my vote.

Further podcasty chat includes podcast anxiety, ridiculous and, tangentally, maggot cheese mmmmm.

More randomness with Jumping the Shark, Bones, MASH and a Veronica Mars Kickstarter update.  It may come as a surprise but Springs has a pet peeve.  We also get a small cameo from Mr Springs!!

And finally we end with Springs entering the podcast via harp to announce the final tally for the VM Kickstarter.

Good Mythical Morning is going on hiatus in order to bring us an half hour weekly show. Stay tuned for reviews from one or both of us.  Springs revisits the passport theft and carpet mushrooms..
